'Bienfacture' is a French term with Latin roots meaning "to do well". The term aptly reflects Patek Philippe's ongoing commitment to workmanship. Our quality standards are pegged so high that they even exceed the requirements stipulated by the Geneva Seal, which is the most prestigious official hallmark awarded to mechanical timepieces anywhere in the world. Other examples of our 'bienfacture' can be seen in the number of patents we own and in our reputation for complicated timepieces.
The twelve criteria of the Geneva Seal can only be fulfilled by craftsmen who perfectly and comprehensively master micromechanical engineering, hand finishing, assembly, and precision timing regulation skills. Above and beyond these criteria, Patek Philippe imposes additional requirements. No wonder, then, that one hundred per cent of the mechanical watches crafted by Patek Philippe proudly display the coveted Geneva Seal.
