Georges-Emile Eberhard was born at Saint-Imier, Switzerland, in 1865, of a Bernese family that has traced its ancestry right back into the 10th century A.D. Being a watchmaker, his father initiated him to all the secrets of the watchmaker's art so that it took little more than two decades for him to become the founder of a veritable manufactory.
