Universal was founded in 1951 and has remained in the same family ownership for 48 years. We have a wholly owned factory in West London, manufacturing top quality papier-maché tailor's busts and forms and accessories. In the same premises, we also manufacture fibreglass mannequins, forms, accessories, furniture, etc. Under the world renowned "Gemini Mannequins" trade name. We have a 50% owned fibreglass factory on Mainland China (just north of Hong Kong) manufacturing in bulk at very competitive prices. The London factory handles all enquiries, using in house sculptors, mould makers and technicians to produce master moulds to be used either in London, where time is at a premium, and where more sophisticated make-ups and wig styling is required, or in China, where 12 weeks is the normal delivery time required. Quality is not a problem in the China factory as we have a fully trained and dedicated team of makers, who have proved themselves over the last 6 years. Items are already installed in the major department stores and chains within Europe and the USA.
We have a design department in our London showroom to handle and implement enquiries from our clients, and we are finding that this facility is becoming more important as new ideas are the lifeblood of any new campaign.
