The Paper Bag Princess

Elizabeth Mason, owner The Paper Bag Princess, Vintage Couture and Designer Resale and author of The Rag Street Journal, is a noted expert in vintage couture collecting. Prior to opening her business in 1995 and writing her book she spent fifteen years traveling the globe working as a model, actress, and writer. In her travels, she scoured every thrift shop , flea market, and antique show. While doing so, she compiled list of all her sources. When the personal request for copies of her database grew to such a demand that she recognized the commercial value of this information, she decided to write the book on the subject. In October of 1995 Henry Holt released her first book, The Rag Street Journal, The Ultimate Guide to Shopping Thrift and Consignment Stores Throughout North America The Rag Street Journal is a comprehensive reference book, which lists over 3,500 of the best non-profit thrift Stores across North America. The Rag Street Journal was also bought by The Book of the month Club for three of its divisions, as well as numerous other book clubs.
