Lady Foot Locker - First store opened in the Louis Joliet Mall in Joliet, IL, in December 1982. Lady Foot Locker was launched by parent company, Foot Locker, Inc. (formerly known as the Woolworth Corporation) to address the dramatic increase of women and mothers in the work force in the 80's, as well as, the women's fitness boom, particularly in aerobic exercise. A natural extension of its male-oriented counterpart, Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker was the first store committed to offering athletic products made specifically for women.
