Mode Museum

De MoMu-collectie bestaat grotendeels uit de erfenis van het vroegere Textiel- en Kostuummuseum: een uiterst gevarieerde verzameling van kleding, kant, borduurwerk, weefsels en gereedschap voor ambachtelijke textielbewerking, vooral afkomstg uit de Zuidelijke Nederlanden. De oudste stukken dateren uit de 16de eeuw, de nadruk ligt op de 19de eeuw. Het MoMu voegt daar met zijn hedendaagse visie en aankoopbeleid stukken van vooral Belgische modeontwerpers aan toe.
Mode Museum - The MoMu collection consists largely in an inheritance from the former Textile and Costume Museum: it is a very diverse collection of clothing, lace, embroidery, fabrics and tools for artisanal textile processing, mostly from the Southern Netherlands. The oldest collection pieces date back to the 16th century, but the emphasis is on the 19th century. MoMu, with its contemporary vision and purchasing policy, will add to this collection creations by Belgian fashion designers in particular.
