Brantano

Het ontstaan van Brantano dateert van 1953 toen de heer André Brantegem, samen met zijn broer, een schoenenproductie opstartte in een klein fabriekje in Lede, Oost-Vlaanderen. Zijn interesse voor schoenen had hij meegekregen van zijn vader die schoenmaker was. De familie Brantegem was gespecialiseerd in damesschoenen die ze verkochten aan Belgische groot-en kleinhandelaars. Na verloop van tijd gingen beide broers hun eigen weg en besloot de heer André Brantegem in 1962 te starten met een kleine winkel in de fabriek (30m2). In feite legde hij toen de grondslag voor wat later zou uitgroeien tot de Brantano-schoenenketen.
