Fashion Awards - Malta

The Malta National Fashion Awards were founded in 1999 with the aim of rewarding the abundant talent working in Malta ’s fashion industry. Over the years the scope of these awards was widened to include related areas of creativity and well being. In 2005, awards for aestheticians, nail technicians, advertising, and designs for outlets have been added to the line-up and in 2006 another award for television programmes with a potential of fashion was added too. Preparations for the final awards night start months in advance with the setting up of a selection board to invite applications from eligible candidates. Once these are vetted for conformity with the regulations, an adjudication panel shortlists up to four to five nominees for each award category. These nominees are then published. The voting comes from an expert panel elected purposely for each category. These panels may change annually in each edition. As the awards night approaches, the focus of the organizers shifts to the occasion itself. For the past few years the awards night has been held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta . It has also become customary to have the top Maltese artists and performers live on stage, and also having a creative and original set design, which Unique Promotions are well known for on the island. The whole show, will be transmitted during Prime time on Malta’s National Television Station, after being professionally edited. Over the years this event became the Biggest Fashion Event organized in Malta.
