San Antonio

San Antonio has dressed women through 30 years. But the company is still going strong with its unique style inspired by the current trends of fashion. In 2006 San Antonio was awarded by the Danish paper Borsen as “Gazelle” company, a title which is given to companies that demonstrate considerable growth. The style is unique. The materials are delicate and the colours follow fashion and have their very own life. These have been some of the key words for the Danish fashion company San Antonio which for more than 30 years has designed clothes for women who know what they want. And the couple Bernhard and Kirsten Schultzer has with their fashion company now been given the Gazelle-prize by the Danish paper Borsen as one of 1,400 companies which have shown impressive growth. It is all about life style – and it has been like that since Bernhard Schultzer founded San Antonio in 1975. And it is exactly the unique style and attitude towards trends and fashion that has made San Antonio the preferred fashion brand of many women. ”Naturally we take the current tendencies into consideration when we design clothes but it is even more important for us that San Antonio has it’s own unique style and that the fit is perfect. Quality is always in focus”, Bernhard Schultzer explains. The expression is simple and stylish but with a lot of interesting details that suit modern women. ”On the one hand we play with the relaxed style and on the other hand we like to express an understated elegance, which makes the clothes appropriate for business, daily life as well as for party time”, says Kirsten Schultzer, who together with San Antonio’s designers is responsible for the style and expression of the collections. The fit is essential when the clothes are designed at San Antonio. The clothes are available in sizes from 34 to 46 and from S to XXL. Therefore San Antonio can dress women regardless of size and shape. Throughout San Antonio’s 30 years in the world of fashion there have been ups and downs but lately San Antonio has demonstrated a still increasing growth. Actually the growth has been so strong that the Danish paper Borsen chose to give the company the “Gazelle” prize. ”And the success is reinforcing”, says Bernhard Schultzer who explains that the sale of next summer’s collection has increased by no less than 67 % compared to the turnover of the 2006 summer collection which was not too bad either. At the same time Bernhard Schultzer tells that the company has started a cooperation with a Russian chain of stores which also is one of Russia’s leading distributors of womens’ clothes. A lot is expected from this cooperation in the future. Bernhard Schultzer entered the fashion world almost by coincidence as he started to sell clothes from an Israeli company he had come to know when he worked in a kibbutz in 1967. Since then things have developed fast and in 1972 Bernhard Schultzer started as an independent agent in fashion. He worked as an agent until 1975, when San Antonio was founded. At first the collection consisted of one silk shirt and one sweater. The collection expanded slowly but surely and today the collection consists of everything from pants to skirts and dresses, tops, knitwear, t-shirts, shirts, jackets, coats, fur and accessories. San Antonio has always been known for its simple designs in bright, strong colours. After a downturn in the 90’es where the brand according to Bernhard Schultzer got a little too “adult” the company made a strong come back. San Antonio was successfully reborn with a new and younger image. Today San Antonio is available in stores all over Denmark and is exported to Russia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Netherlands, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Greenland. With regards to the future Bernhard and Kirsten Schultzer are very optimistic. ”We are planning to develop the collection further in the well known San Antonio style combining our unique expression with the current trends”.
