Clothes are a passion of mine and I am inspired by the styles from the 40's and 50's and the beautiful handwork of Indian beading," Rachel Roy commented. Rachel Roy understands women who embrace fashion. The native Californian has been living and breathing fashion from an early age. After graduating from Columbia Union College in Washington, D.C., she moved to New York City seeking work in the fashion industry. Almost immediately she began working as a stylist. Her personal style - a mix of west coast comfort and east coast glamour - quickly became popular with many magazine editors and video directors. In the Fall of 2004, Roy applied her sophisticated, no-fuss aesthetic to her own collection Rachel Roy. The collection combines delicate "lingerie" embellishments, beading and ease of fit, while maintaining a modern, youthful attitude. These are clothes that look and feel effortless without sacrificing design. Rachel Roy pulls inspiration from all aspects of her professional and personal experiences; they are a true reflection of not only of Roy's design beliefs, but of her lifestyle overall. Roy brings innumerable influences from her life into her creative process. The women of the fashion industry - models, designers, and professionals - are all muses to Rachel Roy. She understands the desire to look elegant and feminine while continuing to remain strong and independent.
