Leopold | Only three seasons in, Leopold menswear is answering the prayers of the fashion conscious Aussie male. Leopold, the brainchild of Melbourne based designers Boyd Parry and Shandor Gancs, challenges the traditional street dress of their contemporaries. This season takes it’s cue from relaxed elegance. It stands for the symbiosis between the masculine elegance of sculpted silhouettes and British country inspired materials, between contemporary luxury and old world charm. Colours are classic: black, browns and greys which are offset with warm reds, teals, violets and greens. Key pieces include: cardigan-style jackets, sportswear layered with tailored jackets, country checks, sleeveless knitwear and chunky oversized jumpers. Leopold is proudly made in Australia, with injections of fine Italian fabrics and Scottish cashmere. The designer’s take on menswear is a clash of masculine textures, fine tailoring and bold colours. This has created a cult following amongst the discerning male buyer. A joint venture between Leopold and Polaroid sees the development of a range of sunglasses to be released Autumn/Winter 2006 as part of a new Australian Designer campaign. Currently stocked nation wide in some of Australia's finest boutiques, Leopold is soon to hit stores in Tokyo, New York and London with its exclusive, limited edition cashmere range.
