IO Berlin | The german designer Carola Plöechinger always wondered why men wear a piece of fabric around their necks. And why menswear isn’t far more interesting? Carola Plöechinger studied Visual Communication and Photography at the University of Fine Arts Berlin and in Stockholm. For her diploma she chose the tie as her object and developed her first collection from that. IO was born. IO is the new interpretation of classical menswear: elegance in fresh cuts, with subtle irony and an eccentric touch. Slim fitting shirts, t-shirts and trousers define the style for fashionable men. Carola Ploechinger gave her debut with IO at the Berlin Men’s Wear Shows at Premium Exhibitions 2004. In October 2005 she was presenting her SS 06 collection as one of the four finalists of the Moët & Chandon Fashion Debut in Berlin.
