I Clothing | Antoni Tzavelas and Laura DiMarcantonio met at an underground club in Toronto. Antoni, being a local designer, heavily involved in the underground club scene, was looking for something more fulfilling. Laura, a Wardrobe Stylist in the film industry, and a designer in her own right, was in search for the same. In July of 1999, Antoni and Laura launched with their new label i clothing co. The i standing for individuality. Each person wears the same thing, but will wear it in their own way, thus creating individuality, was the philosophy of the dynamic duo. They started off selling utility aprons, at the height of the bag craze in North America. They sold like wildfire, giving the two, the confidence needed to create a full collection. Other retailers started noticing the popularity of the label, and began to carry the line in their specialty boutiques across North America. The demand soon came for higher end clothing, for those of an older age group that needed clothes for the office. Individual was the spawn of this demand, which consisted of higher quality fabrics, and attention to details done by hand. As a whole, IClothingCo pushes the boundries of the masses, while maintaining a high standard of comfort and quality in their clothing. I Clothing continues to excel in creating pieces with detailed tailoring and clean lines, fusing these qualities with fine luxury textiles, sophisticated cuts and a raw edge. I Clothing is geared towards the young sophisticate, who wants to stand as an individual.
