David Dart

After “dabbling” in apparel and interior design at UCLA, David founded David Dart Knitwear in Los Angeles in 1985. Subsequently, David spent a year with Report, a contemporary sportswear collection, before joining Force One to launch the David Dart Collection in May 1987. In 1994 David Dart, Inc. was acquired by St. Louis based Kellwood Company - a move to allow for optimal growth in the designer sportswear business. One of David Dart’s best assets is knowing his customer - women aged 30 and up with sophisticated tastes whose busy lifestyle requires sportswear and dresses that are unique in style, yet easy to wear. And one of his favorite parts of the job is meeting her; Dart enjoys meeting customers at a number of in-store events each year. “Making a personal appearance and getting to see the vision of my customer that I have in my head - actually standing there in front of me - I think is great”.
