Daryl K New York Fashion Designer | Daryl Kerrigan was born in 1964 in Dublin, Ireland. She studied fashion at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, before moving to New York in 1986. For some time she worked in a giant warehouse sorting second hand clothes for thrift-shop dealers. Daryl K is the label by Dublin native turned New Yorker Daryl Kerigan. Nicknamed "Queen of Downtown Cool, Daryl Kerigan won the CFDA New Talent Award in 1996 and a cult favorite of downtown New Yorkers for the designer's slim-fitting hiphuggers and comfy hooded sweatshirts. Part of Daryl K's genius is her ability to work with different types of fabrics from wool to knitwear, leather to cotton. She has a tendency to use basic color pallettes and adds accents to create excitement on her designs. She designs based on the premise that women should be feminine and sexy, yet tough and can protect herself.
