Alexander Wang launched his first women’s collection in Spring 2005 after recognizing the gap in the market for fine cashmere with a modern appeal at an inviting price point. As a native Californian with family roots in Taiwan, Alexander Wang has always been intrigued with rich textures and elegant abstract forms. Coupled with Alexander’s painstaking attention to small details, his classic, timeless garments clearly differentiate themselves. As Alexander recounts “Growing up in the late 80's into the early 90's I was influenced by two major fashion movements. The overly excess and boldness of icons…to encountering my first fashion magazine in the early nineties which was the start of minimalism for me…It was an issue of Harper's Bazaar while Liz Tiberis was the Editor in Chief.”
