Direction | The #1 textile design show in America and the Textile/Surface Design Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology collaborate to launch Forward Leap at the April 2006 Show. Forward Leap provides exhibition booths for outstanding students and recent graduates seeking employment in textile design, fashion design and related fields. As an innovative networking environment that will be present yearly at April Direction Shows, Forward Leap provides a rich stage for seasoned professionals in the textile and fashion design communities to review work from promising graduates. Direction is committed to endorsing emerging talent and affording them direct experience to the industry. Students participating in Forward Leap at Direction have been recommended by the faculty of the Textile/Surface Design Department at FIT. Lisa Mainardi, Direction Show producer explains, “I believe that it is important to support this young, talent and provide access to the greater design community.” She adds, “This also works to establish a platform for the marketplace to scout out fresh ideas and new views.”
