Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta is a high-end fashion designer of clothing, luxury goods, fragrances and accessories for men and women. Oscar de la Renta is a native of the Dominican Republic and at a young age went to Madrid to study design and apprentice under Cristobal Balenciaga. In 1961 he went to Paris to work at the house of Lanvin and later moved to New York to join Elizabeth Arden's salon. In 1965, he partnered with the Jane Derby company and inevitably the label changed to Oscar de la Renta. Known as a catalyst for the international and ethnic fashion trends, De La Renta has the ability to create exotic and extravagant clothing while always maintaining an impeccable level of taste. He has received many awards, including the prestigious CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990.
