Luella Bartley - Luella was educated at Central St Martins School of Art in Fashion Communication and Promotion. Luella left St Martins mid-way through the course at the age of 20 for a position at the Evening Standard as Fashion and Features writer and then moved from the paper to the magazine to become Fashion Editor and write a weekly tongue in cheek fashion column, Pony Tales. She left the Evening Standard and moved to British Vogue in August 1998 for a position as Fashion Writer. Leaving British Vogue a year later, Luella continued to freelance for Dazed and Confused and Vogue and embarked on her first collection. She still writes occasionally for The Face and Pop magazine. Luella showed her first collection during London Fashion Week A/W99-00 a small but upbeat presentation in a friends flat with 6 girls (models and friends) that took the form of a cross between a fashion show and a house party. Katie Grand styled the show and Steve Mackie from Pulp provided the music. Collections following sported titles like, Daddy, I want a Pony, Daddy, Who Were the Clash?, Feeling Single, Seeing Double, and Some Girls. Now approaching the ninth season with one of the hottest shows at New York Fashion Week, Luella continues to create her off beat, hard edged essentials.
