The red dress is an international symbol for women and heart disease awareness. By wearing red this day you bring attention to cardiovascular diseases among women. Cardiovascular diseases are the #1 cause of death among women. Every year more women than men die of this disease, however most research is done amongst men. The result from these studies are unfortunately not suitable for women as men and women are built differently. Research is needed to improve knowledge in the field of the cause, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease in women. The Heart Foundation works to improve women’s care giving and by wearing red on Saturday 29th of September you show your involvement and support in the cause. Together, we will continue to urge women to protect their hearts.
