Behind the scenes: Soleil

Soleil is our latest face for the new season and today our model for Paul & Joe, By Malene Birger, See by Chloé, Drykorn, DAY Birger et Mikkelsen and Marc by Marc Jacobs and it has been a pleasure to have this bubbly person around us today.

This beautiful 26 year old girl is born and raised in Haarlem with a mum from the Dominican Republic and a Dutch dad. Until recently she’s been living in New York for a year where she was modeling full-time for brands such as Sephora Brasil, Evon, Timberland and Macy’s, just to name a few.

Next to a career in modeling Soleil is studying History at the University and is planning to top it up with a Master degree in Art History. This charming girls has many balls in the air and it is no doubt that her personality will take her far, but today her dream is to go back to New York after finishing school and start working as a curator in a gallery.

As always we have a few questions for our models and this is what Soleil responded:

- What is your favorite hotspot:
In New York I lived in East Village, which has a lot of cool places, but my favorite is a place called Caravan of Dreams. It is a restaurant specialized in raw food, with live music in the evenings and the most amazing smoothies you’ll ever try. It’s perfect as you can enjoy great food with music whilst staying healthy.

- Favorite place in the world:
Hawaii, without a doubt! I was there for work once, for two days only, but a model colleague of mine and I decided to stay two days longer. We rented a car and drove around the island, it’s the most beautiful place that I’ve ever seen - we saw giant turtles and tuna fish playing in the water. Definitely a place that I want to go back to.

- Do you have any favorite food or a diet that you follow:
I love clean, fresh food – preferably raw food, and I try to stay away from processed food as it does not agree with me. But I’m a nut-addict! I know you should only have a small handful a day, but give me a bag and I’ll finish it alone without a problem.

- Do you do any sports?
I don’t lift weights because I get too muscular and that does not fit with my profession. But I do yoga and a lot of walking – I generally prefer cardio work-outs.

- What is your best beauty tips:
Well, to say something ells than the obvious: a lot of water and enough sleep, I would say eat a lot of natural fat and oils such as avocado, nuts, flax seeds and fish oil – it does wonders for your skin. For my specific hair type I have found out that Maroccanoil is the best thing – I don’t know what I would do without their oil. Finally, moisturize, moisturize, moisturize – Rituals have my favorite body lotion, I love their scents.

- Your favorite brands from our portfolio:
Today we shot a French brand; Paul & Joe, and I think they have really nice stuff. Also Marc by Marc Jacobs is a favorite.

- Any final words as to how you wish your future to be?
Seeing the whole world is on my dream-list and preferably in connection with a great job. If I can combine work and travel I would be very happy. Other than that I just want to be happy and enjoy life to the fullest.

Don’t we all, Soleil, don’t we all!:)

With these words we say thank you to Soleil. We wish you all the best and hope to see you here at Perfectly Basics again very soon.
