Het onderwijs is er op gericht dat een afgestudeerde, eenmaal werkzaam in de praktijk, op eigen kracht de kunstproductie gaande kan houden en kan uitgroeien tot een artistieke inspirator op zijn of haar vakgebied. The Gerrit Rietveld Academy aims at equipping talented young people with the necessary capabilities to work independently and professionally in visual art or design. Once the graduates start working professionally, they must be able to independently sustain the production of art and develop into a source of artistic inspiration within their field.
